Shawna Donaldson, a native of Central Illinois, received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millikin University. During her time at the university, she achieved remarkable milestones, including receiving the Spirit of Nursing Award, being named Who’s Who in SNAI, and being awarded the Illinois Nurses Association Foundation Sonne Special Scholarship. Additionally, Shawna served as the President of both the National Student Nurses Association and the Student Nurses Association of Illinois (SNAI) for two consecutive years. With over 14 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Shawna has worked in various healthcare settings, including acute care, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and even in travel nursing assignments. She has also gained valuable experience in dialysis and corrections. Shawna’s dedication to advancing her knowledge and skills led her to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Walden University, where she graduated with high honors. As part of her specialization, she became a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This achievement allowed her to enhance her clinical expertise and provide comprehensive care to individuals with mental health needs. Looking towards the future, Shawna has set her sights on obtaining a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. This long-term career goal will enable her to not only expand her clinical capabilities but also fulfill her passion for teaching and mentoring future nurses. Outside of her professional endeavors, Shawna cherishes her free time spent with her family. She also has an interest in following Illini athletics, particularly basketball.
